Sachin Tendulkar may be preparing to hang up his bat. British Prime Minister David Cameron certainly isn’t. The UK PM counts among his most prized possessions a bat signed by his cricket hero Sachin Tendulkar. But, he told HT in an interview, there was no truth in reports that he
had sold it off in an auction. “I’m a massive cricket fan so that’s a passion I share with many Indians. The bat that Sachin Tendulkar gave me is one of my proudest possessions and I’m certainly not letting go of that to anyone.”

Days after Cameron described the bat as his “most valuable possession” to an Indian audience in London last year, a British daily claimed he had sold it off for £3,400 to raise money for building a cricket stadium in Rwanda.

 

British govt split on relations with China
London: A split has emerged in the British government on managing its cooling relations with China, The Sunday Times newspaper said.

Cameron and finance minister George Osborne are keen to avoid tension with Beijing  which could damage trade ties.
However, foreign secretary William Hague say UK must not tone down its criticism of rights abuses while Deputy PM Nick Clegg insists it must take a principled stand on issues such as the treatment of Tibetans
