Playing puzzles like crosswords, sudoku and wordsearch could help your brain stay active and reduce your risk of getting Alzheimer's disease, scientists say.

New research has found that unfamiliar stimuli and new mental challenges can stimulate neuron growth in a key area of the brain, the Daily Express reported.

One US study recently found that people who keep their minds active throughout their lives have lower amounts of a protein that forms the beta amyloid plaques, a hallmark of Alzheimer's.
