Meghna Ghai-Puri, president of the Mumbai-based Whistling Woods International that focusses on education and training in film, fashion and media, has been awarded a honorary fellowship by Bradford College, one of the largest colleges in the UK.
The fellowship was awarded at a special event yesterday in the college in the presence of top officials of the college and students. Ghai-Puri is the first Asian woman to receive a fellowship from the college, a press release said.
Bradford and Whistling Woods International have been engaged in several joint activities, including student co-productions, student exchange, faculty exchange and summer school programs.
In 2012, Bradford College invited Whistling Woods International to set up a campus jointly, which was set up as the Bradford - Whistling Woods Film School, which commenced operations in September 2013.
Trevor Griffith, Director of the Bradford - Whistling Woods Film School, said: "We have observed at close quarters the work that Whistling Woods has done in the field of Film & Media education over the years.

Bradford College has recognised her immense contribution to the Film & Media industry, in India and in extension, to the global Film & Media industries, and has decided to award her with a honorary fellowship in 2013."
