A video of a donkey being fed to tigers alive in a Chinese Zoo has gone viral. In the footage captured on CCTV, a group of men can be seen pushing a terrified donkey into the tiger enclosure as it struggles to escape.

Visitors, including children, were made to witness this gory incident in Changzhou, in Jiangsu province.

According to reports, the donkey was thrown “in a fit of rage” after a dispute among shareholders.

“Since we could not have any benefits, we thought why not feed to the tigers, at least we can save on animal feed,” an unidentified investor told The Paper, a Chinese media organisation. The men reportedly attempted to haul a sheep into the pit as well, but were stopped by the zoo employees.

The video has sparked widespread outrage on the web, with many calling for stronger laws against animal abuse in Chinese zoos.

One social media user wrote: “I have no problems if it happens in nature, that’s how nature works, but in this case, it is just animal abuse.

“Other zoos around the world manage to keep tigers perfectly healthy without feeding them live food,” another user commented.
