A 21-year-old American woman’s tweet about adopting her malnourished baby cousin so that he will soon become her baby brother, has touched a chord with many others who came online to share their own stories.

On July 21, Blaine Hamilton of Alvord, Texas, posted pictures of baby Coleman who showed an incredible transformation from malnutrition to a healthy life.

Blaine and her family adopted Coleman who was born malnourished from his drug-addict parents. She told BuzzFeed that Coleman is her first cousin on her mother’s side, and that he has been living with them for 15 months.

Coleman weighed below a healthy baby’s weight and that he was “neglected” by his birth parents, Hamilton tweeted.

Blaine’s family decided to take custody of Coleman from his parents who were also related by blood to them.

“He was my brother’s son, so knowing that he is with his biological family and that he will grow up with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. is comforting and rewarding to us,” Blaine’s mother told BuzzFeed.

When Blaine posted pictures of Coleman’s transformation on Twitter, it received overwhelming response from the users, with over 1,29,000 re-tweets and more than 5 lakh likes.

Moreover, people on Twitter shared their own stories similar to that Blaine’s.

Within 30 days, the adoption process will be finalized, and Coleman will officially be a part of the Hamilton family, Blaine said.
