Australian newspaper says will not publish more Scorpene documents

MELBOURNE: A leading Australian daily said on Tuesday it will not publish more confidential data on the Indian Scorpene Class submarines after a court imposed a temporary ban on further publication of the documents. The New South Wales Supreme Court had ordered ‘The Australian’ to remove documents from its website, from which the newspaper had already redacted security-sensitive material, and to give French defence firm DCNS all of the company material in its possession, media reports said. The court’s order came after an affidavit was filed by DCNS, seeking a ban on the publication of the sensitive documents. The order preventing the newspaper from using the leaked material expires at 5 pm on Thursday.
