The DDCA has got the nod to host the WT20 semifinal at the Ferozeshah Kotla. It had sought the SDMC commissioner’s permission after he gave the DDCA provisional occupancy until 2017.
“The commissioner had decided to not go against the law but gave us provisional permission to fill the block till 2017. Now we can host the match at Kotla,” said Ravinder Manchanda, DDCA treasurer.
The ICC had questioned the DDCA a few days ago about the old club house as it was shut and the association had lost about 2500 seats. Since it was behind the sightscreen, the ICC had problems keeping it vacant for the WT20 semifinal.
The DDCA had approached the High Court for help. The court on Tuesday had asked the DDCA and ICC to decide the matter without its help. It upheld its decision to comply with law and hence it was left to the association to chalk out a way forward to retain the game.
