After a longer-than-expected wait for his Test debut, Rohit made back-to-back centuries in his first two games during Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell series against West Indies in November 2013.

He struggled in the following tours of South Africa and New Zealand, though, raising questions over whether he can transfer his prodigious limited-overs talent to the long game.

As for that short-format skill, there was little, if any, doubt left after his blistering world-record score of 264 off 173 balls versus Sri Lanka in November 2014, which included 33 fours and nine sixes.

Alongside breaking several records, it was also Rohit’s second double-hundred in ODI cricket, having scored 209 against Australia in November 2013.
