Virat Kohli is the backbone of the Indian batting line-up. If India expected a long period of mourning in the wake of Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement, it has been feathered somewhat by the brash genius of Virat Kohli.
His heavy run-scoring has so far been unaffected by the inevitable comparisons with the ‘Little Master’. In fact, a nation’s will for him to fill the giant-sized void left by Tendulkar has seemingly steeled his spirit.
Kohli, with his stylish and attacking technique, is arguably the hungriest batsman currently, having made his ODI debut in 2008 against Sri Lanka.
His Test debut came in June 2011, shortly after he had helped India lift the World Cup on home soil.
Having previously captained his country in Tests and ODIs, he was handed the Test captaincy on a full-time basis after Mahendra Singh Dhoni retired from the five-day game in December 2014
