India scraped to a one-run win against a tenacious Bangladesh in Bangalore in a thrilling match on Wednesday, keeping their hopes of World Twenty20 glory alive.

India were restricted to 146 for seven after being sent in to bat at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, thanks to some spirited Bangladesh bowling.

Bangladesh came tantalisingly close to chasing down the total, but poor shots and three critical dismissals by skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni eventually saw the home side scramble home by the slimmest of margins.

This is how the final over transpired:

19.1 Pandya to Mahmudullah: Full and outside off, Mahmudullah slices it through point for a single. Right line and right length! 10 needed from 5!

19.2 Pandya to Mushfiqur Rahim: FOUR! FINDS THE GAP! Length ball wide outside off, room on offer as well. Rahim stays deep in his crease and smashes it through covers for a boundary. The crowd goes silent! 6 needed from 4 now!

19.3 Pandya to Mushfiqur Rahim: FOUR! PADDLE SCOOP AND BANGLADESH ARE CRUISING THROUGH! Length ball on middle and leg, Rahim gets across and plays a paddle scoop past Dhoni who dives to his left but fails to stop it. The ball races away towards the fence. 2 needed from 3!

19.4 Pandya to Mushfiqur Rahim: OUT! In the air..gone! Short of a length ball on middle, Rahim pulls it towards mid-wicket and it goes straight down the throat of Dhawan there. Is there a twist in the tale? 2 needed from 2.

19.5 Pandya to Mushfiqur Rahim: OUT! Two-in-two! Got him.... yes gone!!! What a catch by Jadeja. Pandya bowls a full toss on middle, Mahmudullah pulls it but mistimes it towards mid-wicket. Jadeja comes sprinting in and takes a superb catch. 2 needed from 1. This is a humdinger, folks!

19.6 Pandya to Shuvagata Hom: OUT! RUN OUT! MS Dhoni does it for India! Short of a length ball outside off, Hom looks to slash but gets beaten completely. They look to steal a bye but Dhoni collects the ball, runs towards the stumps and instead of throwing it he himself uproots the stumps. The umpires check upstairs and the replays show Rahman is well short. The crowd is going bonkers and I am sure each and every Indian must be on cloud 9!
