At least 11 people were killed and 20 others injured when a truck bumped into a roadside grocery shop in northwestern Bangladesh, officials said in Dhaka on Thursday.

The fruits-laden truck ploughed into the shop in Chapainawabganj where at least 50 people were watching television, killing 11 of them and injuring several others on Wednesday night, they said.

The injured have been admitted to a hospital, they said, adding that the truck was carrying imported fruits from India.

A hunt has been launched to nab the driver, who fled from the scene.
