Pakistani troops on Friday killed 12 militants in retaliatory strikes in the restive Bajaur tribal region after two security personnel died when rebels ambushed a military convoy.
The pro-Taliban fighters ambushed the convoy in Chaharmang area of Bajaur Agency, killing two security personnel and injuring three others.
In retaliatory attacks, troops killed 12 rebels. The security forces targeted militant positions with artillery, mortars and gunship helicopters.
Pakistani troops have been pounding militant bases in Bajaur Agency over the past few days as part of a campaign against the Taliban.
