A Bangladesh army helicopter crashed in a rice paddy field north of the capital on Monday, killing two army commanders and injuring another officer, police said.
Maj Gen Rafiqul Islam and the chopper's pilot Lt Col Shahid died on the spot after the crash in Tangail district, 72 kilometers (45 miles) north of Dhaka, the area's police chief Abdul Mannan said.
Mannan said a third passenger, Maj Saeed, was injured and flown in another helicopter to Dhaka's military hospital. Mannan was not sure if the names he provided were complete.
He said the chopper was flying from Dhaka to a military garrison outside Tangail town.
He could not say what caused the crash, but insisted it was not linked to a recent mutiny by Bangladeshi border guards that left 70 people dead, most of them army officers.
Army officials were not immediately available for comments.
