A shootout between marines and gunmen on Sunday left at least two people dead and seven wounded in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz, authorities said on Sunday.
Veracruz Gov. Javier Duarte says the hourlong shootout took place near a packed auditorium where the popular grupero band the Arrolladora Banda Limon was playing.
Police had to break some of the auditorium's gates to evacuate people and prevent a stampede, Duarte said.
Duarte said that many of those wounded were people running out of the auditorium. Earlier, he had said that three people were killed and 10 wounded in the shootout.
Also Sunday, local media reported police found 11 bodies along a highway leading from the border city of Nuevo Laredo to the industrial city of Monterrey.
Authorities in Tamaulipas state didn't respond to phone calls seeking comment.
