As many as 24 FM partner stations of BBC in Pakistan have been ordered to cease broadcasting BBC Urdu service news bulletins.

BBC World Service said 24 of its 34 FM partner stations in Pakistan were asked to cease broadcasting the Urdu news bulletins by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).

BBC said that its partner stations had completed all the paperwork and it called on the Pakistani authorities to allow the stations to resume relaying the Urdu news bulletins.
