At least 40 Haitian illegal immigrants have drowned when their ship sank off the Cuban coast, Xinhua reported on Sunday.
The accident took place on Saturday off the Punta Maisi coast in Cuba. A search was on Sunday to find survivors, an official said. Eighty-seven people were rescued.
Haiti, a Caribbean nation, is still recovering from a devastating 7.0-magnitude quake in 2010 that left more than 200,000 people dead.
