Phoenix police say a Romanian-speaking 7-year-old girl abducted by three aunts from her foster parents as an infant in California has never been in school and can't read.
Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump said on Thursday that the girl was apparently living with acquaintances of the aunts in Phoenix when she was found. The girl spoke English and some Romanian.
A Los Angeles sheriff's captain confirmed the girl's identity as Amber Nicklas, who was abducted when she was 1. Authorities flew her back to the LA suburb of Norwalk after she was found on Wednesday. She was taken to the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
Crump says two women and a man were questioned but have been released pending possible charges by California authorities.
