Nigerian terror suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who unsuccessfully tried to blow up a US plane on December 25 over Detroit, has given actionable intelligence to his FBI interrogators, the White House has said.

"The FBI did have an opportunity to interrogate Abdulmutallab; that they got intelligence, useful and actionable intelligence, that was then transmitted back to officials throughout the government," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said.

"This was done by experienced FBI interrogators," Gibbs told reporters.
