High profile India-born fashion designer Anand Jon, convicted for sexually assaulting upcoming models, now faces another set of similar trials in a New York court.
Facing a mandatory life term, Anand Jon, 35, is expected to be brought to New York once the California court announces his sentence, possibly in August. In New York he faces charges of raping dozen more victims. He has already been convicted by the Californian court.
"As soon as he gets sentenced in August, we're going to make efforts to extradite him," said prosecutor Lisa Friel, chief of the Manhattan District Attorney's Sex Crimes Unit was quoted as saying by the New York Post.
There are two indictments against him here and more in Texas and Massachusetts. Prosecutors say they'll formally hit Jon, 35, with more than 40 sex-crime counts after he allegedly attacked 12 girls and women in the city, said the Post.
The charges range from first-degree forcible rape to the rape of a minor.
