Police arrested a lawmaker from Nepal's ruling party on Monday for allegedly misusing his diplomatic passport for human trafficking.

Baradmani Rana, member of Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist Leninist), is the third Nepali lawmaker arrested on charge of 'renting' their passports to racketeers involved in human trafficking for huge sums.

In April, Gayatri Shah of Nepali Janata Dal and BP Yadav of Madeshi Janadhikar Forum were arrested for their alleged involvement in human trafficking by allowing misuse of their red passports.

The scam came to light in December when two persons on way to Australia were sent back from Abu Dhabi after officials found them carrying tampered passports belonging to the lawmakers.
