Security forces released the youngest son of Bangladesh's former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia early on Tuesday, a day after he was detained in the military-backed government's drive against corruption, news reports said.
Arafat Rahman, 36, returned to Zia's Dhaka residence in the early hours of Tuesday, Dhaka's Daily Star and Prothom Alo newspapers reported.
Security forces detained him on Monday using emergency powers in a sweeping anti-corruption drive. The forces previously arrested Zia's eldest son, Tarique Rahman, on charges of extortion.
It was unclear why Arafat was set free.
