Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's divorce would separate him from more than his wife. Berlusconi is all set to lose his $105 million Villa Belvedere in Macherio near Milan to soon-to-be ex-wife Veronica Lario, reported the Independent.
While Berlusconi has agreed to part with the villa, in return Lario has agreed to settle for alimony much less than the $5.3 million a month, she had originally demanded.
Lario has been married to the 73-year-old Berlusconi for 19 years and been together with him for a total of 30 years. She had announced in May last year that she wanted a divorce following reports of his string of extramarital affairs. Following his numerous alleged encounters with young starlets and call girls, Berlusconi's divrce proceedings are bound to get messy if they ever end up in court.
The Italian PM is currently facing criminal charges in two corruption trials, and has recently been called to stand trial in a third one.
