The Indian Embassy in the US was evacuated following a bomb threat on Tuesday. However, all employees of the embassy were reported to be safe.
The authorities conducted searches in the buildings of both the Indian embassy as well as the consulate in Mass Avenue, Washington DC.
Reacting to the incident, India’s Ambassador to US, Nirupama Rao, said an anonymous caller had claimed to have placed a bomb in the embassy, following which the police were called in.
The threat call is said to have been received sometime before 10.30am, PTI reported. About 130-140 people were inside the embassy at the time.
