Belgian police on Tuesday found a bomb and an Islamic State (IS) flag during a search at a Brussels apartment carried out after deadly attacks in the Belgian capital that killed over 30 people, prosecutors said.

“The searches that took place in the Schaerbeek (district) found an explosive device containing nails among other things,” the federal prosecutor said in a statement.

“Investigators also discovered chemicals and a flag of the Islamic State,” the statement added.

Searches were being carried out “in several parts of the country” and “several witnesses also were being heard,” it said.
