State media report that a bus has plunged into a ravine in western China, killing at least 16 people and injuring another 24.
The official Xinhua News Agency says the accident occurred yesterday morning in the far western Xinjiang region on a highway that connects to Tibet.
There were 42 people on board when it crashed and only two escaped unhurt. Xinhua said on Saturday that the injured were transported to hospitals in Kashgar, the closest city. Most of the people were travelling to Tibet for work.
