A car bomb exploded in a crowded market in western Iraq's Anbar province on Sunday, causing many casualties, police said, but the exact toll of dead and wounded was not immediately clear.

The blast in Haditha, 190 km (120 miles) west of Baghdad, came two days after a series of apparently coordinated bomb attacks near Shi'ite mosques in Baghdad that killed 31 people.
