Chinese police have warned commuters against kissing and getting intimate in the subway as they probed a video of a young couple kissing in a train that evoked strong public reaction.

"Kissing in the subway? Careful police may investigate you" warned state-run People's Daily which in its web edition published pictures of a young couple kissing and caressing on the subway train recently in Shenyang, Northeast China's Liaoning province.

The video has received strong reactions from netizens as the person who posted these photos scolded them saying "can you please show some common courtesy in public?", other netizens asked "What about the kids around?"

Shenyang police have told reporters that the incident is now under investigation, the progression of which remains to be revealed.
