Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is warning Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi that his days in power are numbered and that the international community in the coming days will be stepping up pressure on him to leave.
Clinton said on Wednesday that the United States and other countries are continuing to get conflicting messages from Gadhafi associates about his intentions as NATO keeps up its military operations in Libyan to protect civilians. Clinton said she could not predict "the exact day or hour" of Gadhafi's departure. But she said, in her words, "his days are numbered."
Clinton will attend a meeting in Turkey of senior officials from countries backing the NATO alliance's Libya operation on Friday. She says they will be working hard to increase the pressure on Gaddafi.
