The death toll from the crash of a French military helicopter in Gabon on Saturday has risen to eight after the body of a soldier was found on Monday, French authorities said.
The AS 532 Cougar helicopter, with 10 soldiers on board, went down in unexplained circumstances off the coast of Gabon shortly after taking off while on exercise with Gabonese forces.
Three soldiers survived the crash but one of these died soon afterwards. Most of the bodies of those killed were recovered soon after the accident.
The body recovered on Monday was that of the last remaining soldier missing.
