Earthquake rattles western Denmark

world Updated: Feb 20, 2010 21:19 IST

An official says an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale has shaken Denmark's west coast, but no one was injured.

Police spokesman Kjeld Nedergaard says the quake rattled homes and buildings as it shook the west coast of Jutland late on Friday. He said on Saturday that aside from a few cracks on buildings, no serious damages have been reported.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre says the quake had its epicenter in the North Sea, around 90 miles (143 kilometers) west of the northern Danish city of Aalborg.
