Eight persons were killed and 11 others injured when an explosion took place at a steel plant in northern China, local authorities said on Wednesday.
The victims, were working at the plant in the Hebei province, when the blast took place at around 0800 IST on Sunday, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
While eight workers died in the explosion, the rest were treated for minor injuries.
There were also reports of damage to some buildings at two nearby villages due to the impact of the blast.
Preliminary investigation revealed that explosives, which were being illegally produced at the plant, caused the incident, the report added.
