Eight LTTE rebels killed

At least eight LTTE rebels were killed in clashes with the security forces in Sri Lanka's embattled north, the Army said in Colombo on Tuesday.

In northern Jaffna, army troops launched an attack on three tiger bunkers in Killali Forward Defence Lines (FDL) area destroying two bunkers completely, the defence ministry said, adding trooped confirm that five militants were killed in the confrontation.

It said troops suffered no casualities. In Eastern Batticoloa, Army troops conducting a search operation in Colawadicholai recovered 18 anti-personal mines, one TV antenna and a remote control firing device, the ministry said.

Yesterday three LTTE cadres were killed in a confrontation with troops ahead of Nagarkovil forward defence line in Jaffna on Tuesday, the army said.
