More than 3,64,000 people have been affected due to floods in several parts of the country, particularly in the eastern province, the disaster management centre said.

Around 3,31,418 people were affected in Batticaloa district alone, in eastern Sri Lanka, they said.

Sixty three camps have been set up in which 16,000 displaced people are being provided with relief services. 1,437 houses were totally destroyed and another 3,562 were partly damaged due to floods, the disaster management centre said.

Several man made reservoirs' sluice gates have been opened in the north and eastern parts of the country as rains have continued for about a week now.
