European Union police in Kosovo say forensic experts have unearthed the remains of at least eight people from a mass grave in eastern Kosovo.
The spokesman for EU policing mission in Kosovo, Chistophe Lamfalussy, says experts located the mass grave where Yugoslav Army troops had set up a roadblock in 1998. He said on Friday that EU and local police are still working on the site and that more remains could be uncovered.
Some 10,000 people were killed as Serb forces cracked down on Kosovo Albanian separatists in 1998-9. The conflict ended after NATO bombed Serbia in 1999. Over 1,900 people remain unaccounted for. Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in February, a declaration Serbia does not accept.
