Croatian police have found four bodies in the wreckage of a light plane which crashed into a mountaineous region five days ago, national radio reported today.
One member of a huge special police forces team sent into the snow-capped Velebit mountain range to search for the aircraft was seriously injured today during an avalanche, the report added.
The remains are said to be those of four experienced pilots aged between 49 and 68 after they crashed at around 1,400 metres (4,620 feet), off the central Adriatic coast, special police commander Zdravko Janjic said.
Parts from the plane were found earlier Tuesday as more than 200 people, members of different rescue teams including special police and military, battled through strong winds and thick fog.
The plane went missing on Thursday after taking off from Zagreb and heading for the central coastal town of Zadar, some 300 kilometres (185 miles) south of the capital.
