At least fourteen people were killed and four others sustained serious injuries when a bus and a truck collided in Moscow in the early hours on Thursday morning.
A truck moving in the wrong lane collided head-on with a intercity bus near the town of Petushki.
"Investigators believe that the driver of the truck fell asleep at the wheel," a traffic police source said. "The section of road where the accident occurred is straight and properly illuminated and the surface of the road was dry at the timeof the tragedy," a spokesman for the regional emergencies centre was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.
All the passengers were fly-by-night traders from the Volga city of Ulyanovsk and the local government has announced compensation of one lakh roubles each to the bereaved families.
