At least seven people were killed and 10 injured when a fuel tank blew up at a gas station near the Lebanese capital of Beirut, state-run National News Agency reported.

The explosion occurred when workers at the gas station were welding a tank. The blast caused major damage to the surrounding area and shattered glass panes in nearby buildings.

The dead include the gas station owner and several workers of foreign nationality, officials said.
