A Palestinian militant was killed and two others were injured early on Friday in exchanges of fire with Israeli forces that carried out a brief ground incursion in southern Gaza, medics said.
Several Israeli armoured vehicles and tanks crossed into the Hamas-ruled territory near the Kissufim crossing where they engaged in a gunbattle with the militants, the Palestinian medics said.
There was no immediate reaction available from the army.
Friday's death brings to 360 the number of people killed since Israelis and Palestinians revived their peace talks at a US conference in November after a seven-year hiatus, according to an AFP count.
At least 6,323 people have been killed since the start of the second Palestinian uprising in September 2000, the vast majority of them Palestinians, according to a separate AFP tally.
