Auction house Bonhams is offering a sale of prints here on December 15 of masters like Pablo Picasso, Chagall, Toulouse-Lautrec and Andy Warhol at prices that range from 8,000-60,000 pounds.
"Works by some of our greatest modern and contemporary artists are available at prices that are more affordable than one may realise...And this will be a gift whose value is bound to appreciate over the years," says Robert Kennan, head of Prints at Bonhams.
A mysterious dark haired woman is just one of a kaleidoscope of feminine beauty contained in Picasso's album of 41 etchings with an estimate of 25,000-30,000 pounds.
An iconic image of Marilyn Monroe by Warhol is a screen-print made in 1967, printed in colours, on wove, signed in pencil and has an estimate of 40,000-60,000 pounds.
Toulouse-Lautrec's work of a bicycle race is estimated at 8,000-12,000 pounds.
Speaking about recent performance of prints at sale, Kennan says, "Prints have withstood the worst of the recession very well. Our last sale sold over 90 per cent, which is amazing. The present sale has some great works on offer, particularly Warhol's 'Marilyn', which is in superb condition."
