The 12-year-old girl who was the only survivor of a Yemenia Airway plane crash in the Indian Ocean left the Paris hospital where she had been since her return to France, her father said.
“She left today at around 3:00 pm. She walked,” said Kassim Bakari, father of Bahia Bakari.
He added that his daughter, who turns 13 next month, was “impatient to leave,” but said he would let doctors provide specific details of her condition.
Bakari refused to say where his daughter went after leaving hospital.
She had been hospitalised with multiple bruises and burns after being rescued from the sea following the crash of a Yemenia A310 plane off the Comoros islands on June 30.
The girl had undergone facial and skin surgery due to her injuries.
She had clung to debris after the crash, which killed the other 152 people on board the plane, including the girl’s mother.
Her father said he had thought often about those who “didn’t have the same luck as Bahia.”
“I am really happy to see Bahia,” he said, adding he was grateful to “everyone the doctors, the politicians, the media.”
