As Greece prepares for another general polls following political leaders' failure to form a coalition, many in the birthplace of democracy will return to the polls with little optimism.

As Greece prepares for another general polls following political leaders' failure to form a coalition, many in the birthplace of democracy will return to the polls with little optimism.

Greeks must vote again on June 17 after a patchwork of politicians elected May 6 were unable to agree to share power. This month's vote was split across seven parties, including a neo-Nazi party which attracted 7% of the vote.

"We don't expect anything anymore," said a Athenian shopkeeper who gave only her first name of Ionna.

Unless a new government can agree to tough austerity measures required by the EU and the IMF as part of a 240-billion euro bailout deal, future payments could be at risk to the debt-wracked nation struggling with its fifth year of recession.
