Heavy rains lashed Pakistan's biggest city Karachi on Saturday killing at least a dozen people and injuring 40 others.
The monsoon rains that started this morning badly disrupted normal life in the city and other parts of the Sindh province with people stranded in their offices and on roads due to flooding of main roads and bylanes.
Due to intermittent heavy showers throughout the day, many residential and commercial markets were flooded with water while hundreds of vehicles got stuck on the roads.
Television channels and rescue officials said they had reports that at least 13 people were killed and over 42 injured in different rain related incidents following the heavy downpour.
The deaths occurred mainly as a result of electrocution and collapsing of structures.
The heavy monsoon rain also added to the woes of the citizens as grid stations tripped in many areas leaving them in darkness and without any power.
Cellular companies also reported problems with their services making it difficult for people to stay in touch with their families and friends.
