Several people braving freezing weather across the United States took to the streets to protest against the Israeli air strikes in Gaza, which had left over 370 Palestinians dead since the air onslaught began on Saturday.

The protest marches were organised in response to a call given by several organisations including the Muslim American Society Freedom, Answer Coalition, the National Council of Arab Americans, Free Palestine Alliance and Al-Awda International Palestine Coalition for the Right of Return.

"This outpouring from people in the US and around the world shows that the people want the bombing of Gaza to end. They want the 18 month long blockade and siege of Gaza to end," said Brian Becker, National Coordinator of the ANSWER Coalition.

"We are calling for an end to all US aid to Israel, which is the largest recipient of US foreign aid in the world," Becker said.

The other cities where demonstrations were held included New York, Washington, Dallas, Tampa, Houston, Phoenix, San Diego and Boston.

Answer said they are planning a large scale demonstration on Friday that will assemble at the Israeli Embassy in Washington DC and march towards the Egyptian Embassy.

The sponsoring organisations include the Answer Coalition, the Muslim American Society Freedom, and the National Council of Arab Americans.
