Indian singer Sukhbir Singh and his entourage were briefly detained by Pakistani police for allegedly violating local laws, media reports said on Saturday.
Singh was stopped by police while travelling from Faisalabad to Lahore on Friday and held briefly.
However, there were conflicting reports on the reason for the action taken by the police.
Police were quoted by the Daily Times newspaper as saying that Singh was stopped at a picket because his guard was carrying a weapon without a licence or a permit.
The Dawn newspaper reported that the singer's entourage was stopped as he had violated a ban on using vehicles with tinted glasses.
Singh was allowed to go after senior government officials intervened on his behalf, the reports said.
Superintendent of Police Zeeshan Asghar was also quoted as saying in a report that Singh's guard had produced the proper documents for his weapon.
The singer had gone to Faisalabad to perform at a musical show.
