Airport spokeswoman Maayan Malkin says outgoing flights have been grounded. Flights that are already airborne will be allowed to land but travelers will not be able to collect their luggage.

The strike erupted in the middle of Israel's heavily traveled Jewish holiday season. Malkin said that 30,000 travelers were to have passed through the airport on Monday alone. Airport workers want the government to guarantee their pensions.
