Nuclear scientist A Q Khan has been charged with putting together a two-part newspaper article on “Science of Computers” the way he built the Pakistani nuclear bomb — by pilfering stuff from other sources.

The first installment of his two-part article was carried on August 19 by the English daily, The News. Its originality was questioned on August 24 by a PhD student with a Pakistani name, Fahad Rafique Dogar of Carnegie Mellon University.

Dogar refrained from using the word plagiarism. He merely let facts do the talking. In a letter to the newspaper, he culled out paragraphs from Dr Khan’s article to establish they were straight lifts from the Undergraduate Prospectus of the University of Sussex and websites of London’s Imperial College and University of Cambridge.
