Manmohan arrives in Washington, to meet Bush

world Updated: Sep 25, 2008 22:20 IST

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday arrived in Washington for talks with President George W Bush even as chances of the Congressional approval for the nuclear deal ahead of the meeting seemed increasingly uncertain.

The prime minister's special aircraft landed at the Andrews Air Force base in Maryland. He was received by the US ambassador to India, David Mulford.

While the two leaders are meeting later in the day, the Congress approval for the India-US nuclear deal could be delayed as the house is expected to discuss the ballooning financial crisis in Washington.
