A group of 14 countries, including India, on Tuesday asked Myanmar to take steps to make the political transition “broad-based and inclusive” which should also involve those who did not participate in the recent elections, in an obvious reference to Aung San Suu Kyi.

The Group of Friends of the Secretary-General on Myanmar discussed the recent developments in Myanmar, including the elections and release of Suu Kyi.

Suu Kyi bids farewell to younger son
Aung San Suu Kyi on Tuesday bid farewell to her younger son, who visited his mother for the first time in a decade after her recent release from house arrest.

The 65-year-old Nobel Peace Prize laureate accompanied her son, Kim Aris, to Yangon’s International Airport where he was scheduled to fly to neighboring Bangkok.

Meanwhile Radio Free Asia has launched a question and answer show with Suu Kyi, giving the people of Myanmar the rarest of opportunities to communicate directly with the democracy icon. Airing weekly, questions for Suu Kyi come in via email or phone from people within Myanmar.
