Pakistani state media reports say the new US special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan is in Islamabad for his first meetings since taking the position previously held by the late Richard Holbrooke.
Marc Grossman comes as the US and Pakistan dispute the fate of an American CIA contractor who shot dead two Pakistanis. Washington says the man has diplomatic immunity and acted in self-defense against robbers. Pakistan says the matter is up to the courts.
The Associated Press of Pakistan says Grossman met late Sunday with Pakistan's finance minister, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh. Pakistan's economy is struggling and the U.S. has offered aid and advice to shore it up.
Grossman was appointed in February. He will likely meet other Pakistani leaders Monday.
