Newsweek, the embattled iconic magazine with a worldwide readership, first found a saviour in an audio-parts manufacturer and now a spouse in a relatively little known news site The Daily Beast.

The wedding — that’s how the magazine’s new Editor in Chief Tine Brown called it — was announced on Thursday following an agreement to merge on Tuesday.

The new entity called The Newsweek Daily Beast Company will be equally owned by both companies.
